'Tokyo Ghoul' Season 3 Release Date Rumors: Upcoming Installment To Be Released In 2017?

Since there is a very slim chance for "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 to be released this year, fans hope that the much-awaited season of the popular anime will be out by next year.

Recent reports about the series suggest that the upcoming installment will see it return to its roots by featuring the events that transpired in its manga counterpart, just like what the creators of the show did in the first installment.

It may be recalled that "Tokyo Ghoul" fans were disappointed when the sophomore season almost completely veered away from its original source. Despite criticisms from both critics and fans, however, the widely-followed anime series still managed to maintain its massive fan base.

On the other hand, some reports claim that season 3 will likely provide a continuation to the storylines tackled in season 2. In the previous season, the show's main character, Ken Kaneki, was abducted by other ghouls. If season 3 will tackle the same storyline, then it is possible that season 3 will see Ken Kaneki hide under the moniker Haise Sasaki and pose as a police investigator.

Meanwhile, there are claims that the upcoming season will focus on the origins of the key characters of the series. Moreover, a film version of "Tokyo Ghoul" is reportedly currently in development, causing delays on the production of season 3.

As of this writing, none of the abovementioned speculations has been confirmed by the creators of the series. Studio Pierrot has yet to announce the official release date of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3.
