Dove Award-winning singer and songwriter Todd Smith is launching his next album, "There's a Light," on Aug. 26.

The 11-song recording is a collaborative effort, with six songs co-written by Smith, while the remaining tracks are penned by Michael Farren, Jennie Lee Riddle and Benji Cowart.

One of the more anticipated cuts from "There's a Light," is "Calling all Fathers," which was also co-penned by Smith. Smith, who is also a member of vocal group Selah, describes the song as a "deeply personal anthem" that asks dads out there to accept their responsibility and also be humbled by the fact that they have another human being dependent on their guidance and support.

"This song was written to challenge me more than anything. The world would change dramatically if fathers would simply step into the roles and responsibilities to which they've been called," said Smith, who has five children of his own.

In "There's a Light," Todd Smith also paid tribute to the Russian pastor who was jailed for 17 years for refusing to renounce his faith. The title is "Dmitri's Song (Jesus is Alive)."

"It lit a fire in me to care about a group of people I had never given much thought to before," he added. "One of the greatest ways we can support our persecuted brothers and sisters is by standing together and sharing the Gospel with our neighbors."

Todd Smith will perform "Dmitri's Song" during the special screening of the documentary "The Insanity of God" with David Platt on Aug. 20. The feature will be shown in 500 movie theaters throughout the country.
