Tim Tebow Talks About Helping Special Needs People at Recent Event 'I Know That's How God Sees Them...'

Former NFL QB Tim Tebow recently expressed his thoughts regarding the treatment of special needs people after he and his Foundation hosted an event in honor of them.

The 27-year-old ex-athlete is best known for publicly displaying his resilient faith in Jesus Christ since his college football days as a member of the Florida Gators (from 2006 to 2009) which ignited the 'Tebowmania' craze several years ago.

"We are trying to make a difference in their lives, and we are trying to make them feel like they are kings and queens, because I know that's how God sees them, and that's how we should see them," said Tebow to Fox News on February 13.

The worldwide free 'Night to Shine' prom events took place simultaneously in numerous U.S churches and several ministries in Uganda and Kenya on February 13, 2015, where approximately 50 churches greeted the special needs guests of honor with many perks including a red carpet entrance with paparazzi, and hair and makeup beauty stations.

"This prom night is going to be awesome because so many kids are going to be inspired," said Tebow according to a First Coast News report.

"There are going to be so many smiles on kids' faces because of all the staff and volunteers who have sacrificed their time, because they're willing to make a difference."

Tim Tebow Foundation Executive Director Erik Dellenback previously conveyed his views regarding the former New York Jets and Denver Broncos quarterback's involvement with the 'Kings' and 'Queens' of honor on the day before Valentine's Day.

"Everyone should have the opportunity to experience a prom where they feel loved and welcomed and we pray this event will positively impact the lives of thousands of people across the country," said Dellenback to the Greenville Online in an interview last month.

In addition, Tebow revealed how thankful he was that several people, especially from the Christian community, have made that night memorable for the special needs people because of God's love for them.

"I really believe when you've been blessed with a platform, then you need to make other people feel special," said Tebow to Fox News last week.

"For me, what is special, is all the people that have rallied when we started sharing this with our pastor friends... So many people wanted to be a part of this, and that was what was special to me."
