Tim Tebow News: Ex-NFL QB Constant TV Coverage 'Made People Sort of Suspicious of Him,' Says ESPN President (VIDEO)

ESPN President John Skipper has said former NFL QB Tim Tebow is just as popular as Lebron James in the news because "he is genuinely a very likable" person.

"We gave him a lot of attention. I've said before, we probably overdid it," said Skipper to The Hollywood Reporter. "And that makes people sort of suspicious of him. It's not his fault. He is genuinely a very likable guy."

Skipper also talked about Tebow's debut as a sports commentator at the Rose Bowl, where he gave his expert opinion on the 2014 BCS Championship game between Florida State and Auburn on January 6, 2014.

"We have been thrilled," said Skipper. "We thought it might take him a little longer to get comfortable. He's very knowledgeable. It's beyond our expectations."

On that day, Tebow almost predicted the final score of this year's BCS title game when No. 1-ranked Florida State defeated No. 2 Auburn 34-31 to win the Bowl Championship Series.

"Auburn might be a team of destiny, but tonight Florida State is deeper from top to bottom," said Tebow on ESPN College Game Day before the game on Monday. "[With] Jameis Winston and Telvin Smith's leadership in the fourth quarter, I think they win 35-31."

Tebow is no stranger to big game performances, especially the collegiate level. He is a two time National Champion and won the 2007 Heisman Trophy, an award given to the best player in college football annually, during an illustrious career as the University of Florida Gators's quarterback.

"When I was six years old I fell in love with the game of football, and while I continue to pursue my dream of playing quarterback in the NFL, this is an amazing opportunity to be part of the unparalleled passion of college football and the SEC," said Tebow professing his love for football in a statement released by ESPN in December 2013.

The former New York Jets and Denver Broncos athlete was cut by the New England Patriots during the 2013 NFL preseason and did not find a new squad during the regular season.

Tebow signed a multi-year contract with ESPN to work for the SEC Network, which will debut in August 2014.

"He's a very nice man. He says, 'Yes.' 'How did I do?' 'How can I get better?' and 'Thank you.' You can see why people like him," said Skipper to The Hollywood Reporter in reference to Tebow.
