'Thor 3' Release Date, News: Film Officially Titled 'Thor: Ragnarok', Margot Robbie Likely to Play Thor’s Love Interest

Recently, Marvel Studios hosted a special event to unveil the release dates of its under-production and upcoming superhero movies. Marvel went ahead and announced the release date of the third installment of the 'Thor' series which has been officially titled 'Thor: Ragnarok'.

Addressing the audience, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios' head, explained that Ragnarok means "the end of all things," and it is very likely that the film will witness an epic-scale battle set in Asgard.

As far as the plot of 'Thor: Ragnarok' is concerned, there are rumors that Thor as well as his allies will be fighting against the Fire Demons of Muspelheim. Moreover, it is being speculated that Thor will also be battling his greatest enemy, Surtur.

In 'Thor: Ragnarok', fans will see Chris Hemsworth return to play the character of Thor. More recently, the producers have confirmed that Tom Hiddleston will also reprise the role of fan-favorite villain Loki.

A report by Screenrant says that so far is it not clear how Loki will precisely fit in the story because Surtur is already the main antagonist of the story. However, in the comic books, Loki partnered with the Fire Demons, and freeing Surtur actually brings him to Ragnarok. The website also said that it is very likely that the movie will adhere to the comic book storyline.

Referring to Thor's love interest, a report by Unleash the Fanboy says that Thor may possibly get a new lady love in the character of Amora the Enchantress. There are rumors that 'The Wolf of Wall Street' actress Margot Robbie will be portraying the character.

It has been announced that filming for 'Thor: Ragnarok' will commence in 2016, as soon as Hemsworth finishes his work for the 'Snow White and the Huntsman' prequel titled 'The Huntsman'.

As it stands, 'Thor: Ragnarok' is scheduled for release on July 28, 2017.
