"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will shed light on the fate of its major characters, following the doleful finale of the previous season.

In the season 7 finale, Damon Salvatore and Enzo turned into ruthless killers again after being saved by Bonnie Bennet. The final episode of the series saw both characters slaughtering and hanging people's bodies on the ceiling.

As both characters killed the Everlasting which undoes Bonnie's appetite to murder her vampire friends, they turned into uncontrollable murderers. Season 8 will follow Bonnie as she helps Damon and Enzo upon learning that she is the reason for their insuppressible desire to kill.

In a recent interview, executive producer Julie Plec revealed that Bonnie's character will be a lot stronger in the upcoming season.

"I do, however, think she is in a terrible emotional place, because two of the people she loves most in the world are in a bad spot, and she doesn't have the equipment to fix them or to help them. It's going to be tough for her to get through the next chapter," she said.

Season 8 will also see more moments for the fan-favorite couple Stefan and Carolina, also known as "Steroline." As the couple got reunited in the final episode of season 7, the next season is expected to offer more beautiful moments for their relationship.

Meanwhile, actress Nina Dobrey is rumored to be the one to help Bonnie as she tries to rescue Damon and Enzo in season 8. After making a cameo appearance in the previous season as Elena Gilbert, some fans believe that her character will play a significant role in the next installment.

CW has not confirmed the air date of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 yet.
