‘The Mentalist’ Season 7 Spoilers: Production and Filming Begins for Final Season

'The Mentalist' started filming for its seventh and final season early Wednesday morning.

Actor Tim Kang, who plays Special Agent Kimball Cho, tweeted a photo of the FBI bullpen captioned, "Had to be here at 5am. I'm sleepy. HA!" hinting that the production has begun.

The next season is reported to have 13 episodes, which is shorter when compared to the previous seasons. The storyline for the final season is said to revolve around the personal relationship of the show's main protagonist, Patrick Jane, played by Simon Baker.

'The Mentalist' Season 7 spoilers hinted that Simon Baker's and Robin Tunney's characters will take their relationship to the next level, but they will find themselves in a love triangle. Tunney portrays Senior Special Agent Teresa Lisbon in the series.

At the end of Season 6, Jane and Lisbon shared a romantic kiss after Patrick stopped Teresa from flying to Washington D.C with Agent Pike, played by Chilean actor Pedro Pascal.

Patrick Jane professed his feelings to Teresa Lisbon at the end of the fifth season. The show also introduced a new female character who will interfere with the newly discovered romance between the two.

The new female character, rookie FBI agent Michelle Vega is played by Josie Loren. She will join the series as a regular cast for upcoming installment.

Reports revealed that there will be a clash between Patrick Jane and Michelle Vega mainly due to their differences work habits. Vega is bound by the books in her practice, a total opposite with Jane's nonconformist ways.

Additionally, Josie Loren recently tweeted, "Thank u for an awesome 1st day! Lucky to be joining such a great cast and crew."

'The Mentalist' is an American police procedural TV series that premiered its pilot episode on Sept. 23, 2008 on CBS and is set to return for its seventh season in the Fall.
