'The Mentalist' Canceled: CBS Cancels Show After Season 7, Moves Up Series Finale Premiere Date

As fans have been speculating, CBS has announced that it is going to cancel 'The Mentalist', the police procedural drama, after Season 7. While the news has saddened the fans of the long-running show, many are happy that the network has at least extended the series for a seventh season, which will be comprised of 13 episodes.

At the same time, there are reports that CBS is also thinking about the fans' feelings. Hence, the network has plans to air 'The Mentalist' Season 7 sooner than expected. According to latest reports, the seventh season will premiere on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 9 pm.

However, the show will fill a temporary time slot, until 'The Good Wife' returns on Jan. 4, but by then five episodes of "The Mentalist" Season 7 will have aired. The remaining episodes of police procedural television drama will subsequently be aired every Wednesday at 8 pm, and the final episode, which will be a two-hour series finale, which will air on Feb. 18.

Many fans are hoping that the series will continue even after Season 7 - if not on CBS, on some other channel. According to Entertainment Weekly, there is always the possibility of this, particularly because it is easier to transfer a crime show to another network, than another type of series.

Nevertheless, there is no news about any other network willing to take the show. This is because the last season has yet to air and most networks would prefer seeing ratings of the final season before they pick it up.

Meanwhile, the US Weekly has reported that currently TNT is airing re-runs of 'The Mentalist', and this is an indication that already the network is a good bet for being the next home of Patrick Jane and her gang.
