'The Last Of Us' Remastered PS4 Pro News & Update: Game Gets Native 4K Treatment, 60 FPS Mode

The remastered version of Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us" is set to showcase enhanced visuals.

In a statement, as cited by PlayStation Lifestyle, the studio confirmed that the game is set to run in native 4K resolution, along with an improved 60 fps mode on the PlayStation 4 Pro. As per the publication, the game was not running at native 4K during the demo at PlayStation Meeting. They said the developers had tried toggling the 1080p and HDR on and off and could see the differences when it comes to the performance.

According to iTech Post, an issue was that the game was locked to 30 fps; however, it will still improve details like the shadow map and run in native 4K. In a statement, as per Video Gamer, the developers said that the PlayStation 4 version currently has the 30 Hz mode, which had higher-resolution shadow maps, but otherwise, it was locked at 30 fps.

The developers also mentioned that now that the mode is possible on the PlayStation 4 Pro, they would not only give players the enhanced shadow map detail, but they would also get native 4K. They added that they had actually got a confirmed case of full native 4K game that would be available for the PlayStation 4 Pro at launch, which would be "The Last of Us Remastered."

The publication added that it is still being argued whether the 30 fps feature can handle certain gaming aspects, since the human eye cannot easily identify the difference between 30 fps and higher frame rates.

Along with "The Last of Us Remastered," Bethesda's "The Elder Scrolls Online" is also set to run at native 4K. Naughty Dog is set to provide details on the remastered game's release at a later date.
