'The Last of Us 2' Release Date, News: Title Gets 2018 Release; Game In The Works?

New details on the release date of Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us 2" have surfaced and it is not going to be this year.

Following the rumors of the development of Naughty Dog's game title, it is revealed that "The Last of Us 2" is expected to be released either in 2018 or 2019, Parent Herald has learned. As per the publication, the aforementioned time line is yet to be confirmed by the studio, so fans have to treat them as a grain of salt.

According to The Bit Bag, another game title is attached to the delay of the release of the "The Last of Us" sequel. As per the publication, Naughty Dog is still busy focusing on the completion of its other title, "Uncharted 4: The Thief's End." Previously, fans saw an easter egg on the latter game's trailer, which led them to speculate on "The Last of Us 2."

It is further revealed that official details on "The Last of Us 2" may begin circulating at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2017, since a DLC for "Uncharted 4" may be released in the final quarter of 2016. This mirrors what happened in "The Last of Us," in which Naughty Dog unveiled the title with an "Uncharted 3" easter egg. The former game title hit the market a year after.

Fans believe that "The Last of Us 2" is now in the works, as Naughty Dog lead game designer Emilia Schartz previously posted a job advertisement on Twitter. As cited by Game N Guide, Schartz wrote that the studio was looking for level designers, especially if one had art and modeling experience. "Want to help make ND's next game?," she added.

Overall, "The Last of Us 2" is assumed to come out in 2018.
