'The God Delusion' Author Richard Dawkins Blames 'Nice Christians, Nice Muslims' For Making the 'World Safe for Extremists' (VIDEO)

World Famous Atheist Professor Richard Dawkins explains why he believes that 'moderate' Christians and Muslims' not questioning their respective faith has led to religious extremism in the world.

"It's very important that we should not demonize ordinary, law-abiding, very decent Muslims which of course is the vast majority in this country," said Dawkins, according to a report by the Telegraph.

"Let's leave out Muslims specifically, but the difference between moderate religious people and extremist fundamentalists is that although of course it's only a tiny minority of any sect which is ever going to get violent or horrible, there is a sense in which the moderate, nice religious people - nice Christians, nice Muslims - make the world safe for extremists."

The 73-year-old Nairobi, Kenya native further expressed his views regarding 'moderate' religious people's impact on society.

"Because the moderates are so nice we all are brought up with the idea that there's something good about religion faith. That there's something good about bringing children up to have a faith," said Dawkins at Edinburgh International Book Festival while promoting his new book titled 'An Appetite for Wonder.'

"Once you teach people that that's a legitimate reason for believing something then you as it were give a license to the extremists who say 'my belief is that I'm supposed to be a suicide bomber or I'm supposed to blow up buildings - it's my faith and you can't question that," he added.

Dawkins is best known for releasing the controversial book 'The God Delusion' in 2006, where the former University of Oxford's Professor (of Public Understanding of Science from 1995-2008) questions the Bible's views on creation and the sanity of people who believe in God.

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully," wrote Dawkins in 'The God Delusion'.
