'The Bible' Mini-Series on History Channel Attracting Celebrity Support

Apparently it's not just us "normal" people who watch The Bible, History Channel's latest new docudrama. The celebrity world, or what I like to call "modern aristocracy" are also tuning in, and voicing their support for Survivor creator Mark Burnett's new show.

The Bible has already garnered over an estimated 70 million viewers, including reruns on History Channel and Lifetime.

On Tuesday night Burnett, co-creator and wife Roma Downey hosted "The Bible Experience" in Chelsea. The event displayed rare artifacts from the The Bible series. Along with Burnett and his wife, Arianna Huffington, Kristin Chenoweth, Gabby Douglas, Joe Pantoliano, Carson Kressley and Consul General of Ireland Noel Kilkenny stopped by the exhibit.

"My favorite Bible story is Joseph and his coat of many colors. That's the fashion angle so I'll go with that one," Kressley told Confidential. "That was in the Bible right? It's not just a Broadway show."

Calling the fashion in the series "schmatte-ry," Kressley added that Jesus and his disciples were "doing the long scarves before anyone else in SoHo was."

Burnett ascribes love and good stories as the explanation for miraculous success of The Bible.

"It's all storytelling," he said. "I have shows that have been on for 26 years. 'Survivor' is beloved, 'The Voice' comes back on Monday. When you see the first episode you are going to freak out. It's fantastic. 'The Bible,' 65 million people have watched it. It's just storytelling with love."

Tune in Sunday night at 8/7c for the final two episodes of The Bible on History Channel.
