'The Age of Adaline' New Trailer: Blake Lively Remains Ageless in Upcoming Drama Film

The trailer for the upcoming drama film 'The Age of Adaline' was released Wednesday and stars Blake Lively as Adaline Bowman, a woman whose body remains forever young as she's frozen in time.

The official trailer for 'The Age of Adaline' has been released online and features Lively as the titular character Adaline Bowman, who was born in 1908 but dies in a car accident in 1935. However, due to an unknown and mysterious phenomenon, Adaline finds herself alive but incapable of aging and is forced to change her identity as time passes and the world moves on without her.

The film's director Lee Toland Krieger talked about why he chose the 'Gossip Girl' alum as his lead heroine during an interview with USA Today.

"She sort of embodies a woman who is perfect physically, so in that regard, she's a perfect fit. Also, for someone who is 27 years old, she's wildly sophisticated and seems like an old soul," Krieger said, "The chance to see Blake carry a movie like this for the first time is really exciting. She rises to the occasion."

Krieger mentioned that 81-year-old Ellen Burstyn will be playing the 27-year-old Adaline's daughter. When asked about Lively and Burstyn playing opposite one another as mother and daughter, respectively, the director said that the two were believable in their roles despite the switch in roles and age difference.

Krieger also talked about the film's positive message, and said, "In a world consumed with youth and vanity, there's something very fresh and beautiful about a story focusing on the beauty of growing old."

"I'd like to think you walk away from this thinking love conquers all, even immortality," Krieger concluded.

'Age of Adaline' was directed by Krieger and written by J. Mills and Salvador Paskowitz. It stars Blake Lively as Adaline Bowman, Ellen Burstyn as Adaline's daughter, Michael Huisman as Adaline's love interest, and also Harrison Ford and Kathy Baker as the parents of Huisman's character.

'The Age of Adaline' is set for release in theaters on Apr. 24, 2015.
