Surface Pro 5 Release Date, Specs, Latest News: New Tablet Set For Early Next Year?

New details on the release date and features of Microsoft's "Surface Pro 5" have surfaced.

The Surface Pro 5 is assumed to be announced in October and be launched in Spring 2017, Tech Advisor has learned. As per the publication, the projected release date is based on the launch date of the Surface Pro 4, which was in October 2015. Previously, the device was believed to be announced in May and hit the marker in June; however, the said rumor did not materialize.

Along with the release of the Surface Book 2, another reason why a potential Spring 2017 release date for the Surface Pro 5 is strong is that Microsoft is postponing the second half of its Windows 10 update until early next year. As per reports, the update, which is called Redstone or RS2, is the second portion of the reveal, and it is assumed that the Surface Pro 5 could showcase the said upgrade.

According to The Country Caller, the Surface Pro 5 is set to have a 12.3-inch 4K resolution screen, along with a 256 GB onboard storage, and a 32 GB RAM. The device is also set to sport a USB Type C port, which allows fast charging. The Surface Pro 5 is also expected to include a new stylus and an external keyboard, which transition it well from its predecessors. In terms of camera, the device is set to have a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.

With regard the price of the Surface Pro 5, it is revealed that the device is set to cost around $899 for the Core, $999 for the Intel Core i7, and $1,599 for the i7 Extreme variant, as per News Everyday.

Overall, Microsoft's Surface Pro 5 is assumed to be released in 2017.
