Surface Pro 5 Release Date News, Rumors: MacBook Pro Gets Stiff Competition?

Rumors about the release date of the Surface Pro 5 have been going around for months now, but the closest to the truth is likely the March 2017 launch.

On the other side of the fence, the MacBook Pro 2016 is also rumored to come out in October this year, although Apple is much more circumspect when it comes to the release date of its products.

What's clear, however, is both products seem to be on a collision course when they hit the shelves. According to PC-Tablet, the news and rumors about the Kaby Lake processor and 4K display, not to mention the Windows Redmond 2 update, being included into the Surface Pro 5 makes it a very formidable laptop indeed.

If all the rumored specs are true, the Surface Pro 5 might just trump both the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 and the iPad Pro 2.

PCAdvisor said that Microsoft might just surprise everybody by releasing two Surface Books before the company is done. However, there are no rumors and news reports to support that theory other than the photo taken from building 88 of Microsoft where a display case held placeholders hinting of upcoming releases. The placeholders state "2017" and another was "2016."

Meanwhile, it again supported the rumors that the Surface Pro 5 will be released in March 2017 or in the spring of next year. That's because the Surface Pro 4 has some issues that Microsoft needs to address first even before upgrading the specs. Some of these issues include the very fast way the battery drains in the current laptop.
