'Supergirl' Season 1 Spoilers, News: New CBS Trailer Shows Supergirl in Action

On May 13, CBS released the first trailer for its new series, Supergirl. The series stars Chyler Leigh, Calista Flockhart, and Melissa Benoist playing the role of Superman's cousin, Kara Zor-El.

In the trailer, Kara begins to finally embrace her superhuman powers. The network revealed the clip, which is about six minutes long, during their upfront presentation.

In the trailer, Kara is trying to balance her normal life, and her superhuman one. She has a terrible boss, played by Calista Flockhart, and even does some dating.

Kara, 24, was taken in by the Danvers family when she was 12 years of age, after beign sent away from Krypton.

The Danvers have spent the past 12 years teaching her how to control her powers and be careful with them, so that she can successfully hide them. Things begin to complicate themselves when she is witnessed saving her sister from a plane crash.

Now that she has revealed her powers, she must embrace them, and begins her path to becoming a heroine. Before long, Supergirl becomes popular, but no one knows who she really is.

Supergirl is developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg. The group both writes and produces on the show. The series will make its eagerly anticipated debut on CBS this fall at 8pm, Eastern Time.

The superhero drama will also start Mehcad Brooks and David Harewood.

It has been rumored that the actors who played the original Supergirl and Superman, Helen Slater and Dean Cain, may also have parts in the show, although this has yet to be confirmed.
