Multiple Dove Award-nominated hip-hop artist Steven Malcolm on Friday released his latest project, The Second City Part 2. The new EP marks the second out of four EPs slated for release in Malcolm's "The Second City" series, and The Second City Part 2 continues the biographical journey that begins with Malcolm's father's deportation and separation, followed by a painful childhood and teenage years, before Malcolm finds his own journey through Christ.
Malcolm co-wrote all five songs on the new project, with a special guest appearance by Leeland (Bethel Music Collective) on the final track, "Even Louder." Malcolm's Jamaican musical roots are visible throughout the project and is connecting with fans through nearly seven million streams and from his previous career features on Spotify's "New Music Friday," VH1's "Black Ink Crew," and NBA on ESPN.
The artist was also featured last week in an online story by Rome Reports, a Rome-based TV news agency that specializes in coverage on the Pope and the Vatican, telling the story of a "Hip-hop artist who 'sold out for Jesus.'" The story focuses on Malcolm's trip to the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem last year with Israel's Ministry of Tourism, on being a worship leader at his home church in Grand Rapids, Mich., and on how his music impacts and motivates people.
The Rome Reports story also showcases Malcolm's video from his recent Jerusalem trip, along with his current music video "Not To Us/Good Love," which BREATHEcast previously reported on and which was taped in Los Angeles' Watts community via a partnership with Cantinas Arts Foundation and Red Eye.
The Second City Part 2 is available now here at all digital music outlets. Fans can also catch Malcolm performing live on "The Second City Concert Series," with several shows scheduled across the country with full dates and cities available here.
