Stellar Awards 2014: Tamela Mann, Tasha Cobbs, and Tye Tribbett Win Big at Gospel Music Event of the Year (WINNERS)

Nashville hosted the 29th annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, and singer/actress Tamela Mann stole the night with the most wins while Tasha Cobbs brought everyone to their feet with with her emotional performance of "Break Every Chain."

The televised live concert event honored the best in modern gospel music. The event was moved to Municipal Auditorium from the Grand Ole Opry House for the first time this year.

Comedians Rickey Smiley and Sherri Shepherd hosted the event.

  • Song Of The Year Winner: "Take Me To The King" by Tamela Mann, Written by Kirk Franklin

It was a career-defining night for singer and film/TV star Mann, who was named artist of the year and was the show's top winner with seven awards.

Mann, currently stars in Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns, and took the stage after winning shouting, "Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus. I just love everybody," she said emotionally. "And I don't mind getting ugly for the Lord. This is for the Lord."

It was also an emotional evening for psalmist Cobbs. She was named new artist of the year and earned a standing ovation for her rendition of "Break Every Chain," that increased as the show took a commercial break.

The Stellar Awards are always held over the weekend of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. During Saturday's event, the gospel community took time to honor another legendary figure, Nelson Mandela.
