Steam Summer 2014 Sale Start Date Today: Photo Revealed, Info Possible June 19 to 30

Gamers everywhere are preparing their reflexes, their precision, and their wallets for Valve's annual Steam Summer Sale. While the exact date of its availability is unknown, leaked information and images lead interested parties into believing that it may launch somewhere between the third and fourth week of June.

Each year, Valve, developers of the online software Steam, promote and list discounts on various PC and Mac titles for approximately 11 days time. Daily, the sale incorporates a set number of games from assorted developers, usually 9-12, at incredibly low prices. Time is of the essence because after a period of 12-24 hours the games listed through the Steam client change, and are only available at their original retail price again. User votes and public demand also impact which games are for sale and when (Flash Sales).

Information on the 2014 Steam Summer Sale comes in the form a leaked developer's message to Valve Corp. The image, seen here, shows correspondence between a developer of a soon to be on sale title, and a Valve representative. In order to launch the sale on a preset date, Valve asks developers to provide a spreadsheet pertaining to the desired discounts on their Steam available games. This message references June 13 as final notice for submission of one of these spreadsheets. After the data is compiled and prepared, Valve will have most of the work put in toward the sale completed.

Valve also hosts a winter sale in a similar fashion to the summer sale. Last year, the winter sale deadline was November 15 and the sale started on the 27th. Applying a similar model, that would put the summer sale in mid June.

If the image posted above is not fraudulent and the information is accurate, fans can expect the sale to run from June 19 to June 30.
