Star Wars Episode 7 Plot News, Spoilers: Star Trek’s ‘Beam Me Up, Scotty’ Simon Pegg With Cameo Role

The filming of Star Wars: Episode VII in Abu Dhabi has come to a close, and rumor has it that actor/comedian, Simon Peg, will appear in the latest George Lucas franchise.

Movie director J.J. Abrams, known for keeping his fans in limbo, has managed to do just that except for the latest rumor which puts Simon Pegg, 44, in a brief appearance somewhere within the film.

According to an insider involved in the film's production, Pegg has been seen on the Abu Dhabi set, perhaps to appear in a cameo role. Pegg has appeared in other Abrams projects, which include Star Trek reboots where he played the role of Scotty ("Beam me up!') and Mission Impossible 3 and 4.

While still in production, reports said that Abrams asked Pegg to be involved in Episode VII.

However, Pegg humbly declined the offer.

"I don't think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest," Pegg said in an interview. "I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting."

But all this might soon change after a source confirmed Pegg's presence during the Abu Dhabi shoot. No one knows whether Pegg has changed his mind about the offer, or if it was part of a grand secretive plan to surprise Star Wars fans.

Pegg is an English actor, comedian, film producer and screenwriter. He is best known for Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End.

He played the role of Montgomery Scott in the 2009 rendition of Star Trek and its 2013 sequel Star Trek Into Darkness.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set for release in theaters on December 18, 2015. Fans of the franchise can expect the appearances of old faces such as Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, etc. and new faces, which include Adam Driver Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Dohhnall Gleeson and Andy Serkis.
