'Star Wars Battlefront 3' Release Date on PS4, Xbox One, PC: New Game Set For 2015 Launch

The highly anticipated 'Star Wars: Battlefront 3' will not be entirely related to the upcoming film, 'Star Wars: Episode VII'. Meanwhile, Electronic Arts (EA) has confirmed that 'Star Wars: Battlefront 3' is slated for a Summer 2015 release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

In a statement from company Executive V.P. Patrick Soderland, who noted that Battlefront 3 will not be linked with the new Star Wars movie, he said, "What we're building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made."

Soderland continued by saying, "And that's just because we wanted to make a game that celebrated the history of Star Wars," adding, "Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn't say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn't say that we're directly tied to it."

MCV spoke to Karl-Magnus Troedsson, general manager of EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (DICE), who said, "The reason why the studio will be giving its best shot for "Battlefield 3" is because "Star Wars has a very special place in (their) hearts." He said, "So when the chance to work on this game came up, we grabbed it.

Meanwhile, Gameranx.com has written in a review that "The Death Star" and the "Executor" are "two of the most impressive pieces of lore."

The website writes, "Of course, what most fans think of here is Lira Wessex's prize creation, the Executor, Darth Vader's personal starship. Although this ship would eventually meet its doom in the Battle of Endor, while it was active, it was the premier flagship of the Imperial Navy. Armed to the gills with cannons and tractor beam projectors, and able to carry as much as 144 TIE series Starfighters, the Executor is a suitable battleground for many a Battlefront fracas."
