Spike TV ‘Ink Master’ Season 7 Cast News: Spike Reveals 'Ink Master: Redemption'

Tattoos are becoming a huge cultural phenomenon in the United States and that means more and more people are able to relate to Spike TV's "Ink Master" which has just secured its seventh season.

"With Americans spending more than $1 billion annually on tattoos, 'Ink Master' has definitely hit a chord with viewers and has continued to grow as one of our most gender-balanced original series," said Chachi Senior, SVP, Original Programming, Spike TV. "The show's viewers are not only fans of the amazing artwork displayed, they are also invested in the human canvases and what happens when a client leaves unhappy with their tattoo. We have created 'Ink Master: Redemption' to help answer those questions."

The fifth season was "Ink Master's" best performing season among adults and women 18-49, delivering an average 2.2 million viewers, according to Spike. In its Tuesday 10-11 PM slot, the show placed in the top five among persons 18-49, men 18-49 and men 18-34. The network has ordered a 16-episode seventh season of its hit tattoo-competition series ahead of Season 6 premiered on June 23.

Every week, tattoo artists embark on a fresh challenge to showcase their technical skills on inking as well as their on-the-spot creativity. They must conceptualize and ink an original work on a human canvass after hearing the show's request for the week.

The series is hosted by Dave Navarro while Chris Nunez (Miami Ink) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo) sit as judges.

"Ink Master" is produced for Spike by Original Media with Steven Weinstock, Glenda Hersh and Andrea Richter teaming up as executive producers.

Moreover, Spike also revealed "Ink Master: Redemption," a spin-off which offers disgruntled former human canvases of Ink Master a chance to get a fresh tattoo that leaves them happier than their last.

The side story, comprised of six half-hour episodes, will tape this summer -- in time for its September premiere, reports Deadline.
