In part 2 the young entertainer plays mother to her half human - half vampire son Dennis. When asked about how a Christian audience might receive the concept of humans embracing monsters as a good thing, Gomez candidly responded, "Now for me I respect people [and] whatever boundaries they set for themselves. So I'm more lenient towards that. I am Christian so I understand."

She continued, "For me it's just ultimately about what it is."

"It's a beautiful movie, it's got a great message. There's not much to really dissect but it's about family, that's what it really is. Whatever it is or however we're telling it, that's the truth."

With several mentions of Jesus and frequent Bible messages on social media it is not a surprise that Gomez is a Christian. Her upcoming album, Revival, is even named after a popular word used regularly in Christianity.

When asked whom her favorite Christian artists were, Gomez immediately gushed about New Zealand's own Brooke Fraser.

"I love Brooke Fraser she's my favorite, and I have the pleasure of knowing her and she is incredible. I love Hillsong as well I love all of their worship, I'm a sucker for all of it," she said. "And the new Young & Free is so good I got to hear some of it before it came out."

'Hotel Transylvania 2' definitely pushes the message of embracing people who are "different" in this case, not people but monsters. It is set to hit theaters September 25th. The Sony animated film features voice-overs from Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, David Spade and more along with Gomez.
