Creed's Scott Stapp Reveals Drug Fueled Meltdown was Caused by Bi-Polar Disorder [VIDEO]

Last year Creed frontman and successful solo artist Scott Stapp had a very public and intense meltdown where he made threats to the President, accused people of stealing millions from him, and lived in his truck. Now, it has come out that this behavior was brought upon by a bad episode of bi-polar disorder that was fueled by drugs.

Stapp and his wife Jaclyn gave an exclusive interview to People, where he spoke of the entire ordeal.

"It's not a curse, it's actually been a gift in my life because it's definitely impacted everything I've ever done in my life," he shared with People.

He continued, "Bottom line I was out of my mind at that point of time"¦I was in the middle of what they call a drug induced manic psychosis. I had a psychotic break."

Stapp compared it to being completely drunk or on "crazy drugs."

According to People, abusing prescription drugs and marijuana helped bring about this erratic behavior. He then refused to seek medical help, at which point his wife Jaclyn filed for divorce.

The singer's struggles with drugs and alcohol are well known, and he documents them in his book "Sinner's Creed'. The saddest part of the ordeal was Stapp was seemingly at one of the best parts of his life. His marriage was strong; he rededicated his life to Christ, and was performing as a Christian artist.

However, his recent relapse into drugs derailed all the good progress he had made. It was during this latest "wild ride" as Stapp describes it, that he began releasing bizarre videos, became homeless and penniless, and started making insane claims about his family being involved in ISIS.

After weeks of no communication, Jaclyn texted Scott pictures of the family at Christmas, and he snapped out of it. He sought medical attention and went to rehab. Most importantly, he was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, which would finally give the singer some closure as to his public struggles. "I definitely knew there was something going on for years, but I couldn't pinpoint what it was," he said to People.

Stapp said he is now in a 12 step program, goes to therapy, and receives medication for his disorder. He is committed to his sobriety, and has the proper family support behind him that has help him overcome many other trials in his life.

Here's BC's interview with the Stapp's at the K-LOVE Fan Awards last year, just months before his breakdown.
