While it has been confirmed that 'Scandal' Season 4 will premiere on ABC Network at 9 pm. EDT on Sept. 25, fans of this political thriller television series are wondering about the whereabouts of Olivia Pope (portrayed by Kerry Washington).

In fact, a new preview clip released by ABC shows President Fitzgerald equally confused, regarding Pope's whereabouts. In fact, she was last seen with her father aboard a plane and headed for an unknown destination. Although Fitz tries to reach Olivia, he is unable to.

Moreover, ABC has recently released banners over the beaches of New York, New Jersey, and Los Angeles teasing viewers all the more, saying, "Where on Earth is Olivia Pope?"

Carter Matt notes, "Tony Goldwyn's character is basically going to be the most confused President that we've seen in a very long time. The man has a good skill set for running the country and for politics ... but he also has a problem when it comes to keeping his priorities and feelings in order."

The website goes on to add, "Who knows how long it'll take Fitz on Season 4 before he starts to really pursue Olivia again, and how long Olivia is going to be okay being away from Washington? We assume season 4 will start with her big return to the area, and then the madness will begin again from there ... and we definitely expect there to be plenty of madness."

Meanwhile, Joe Morton (who plays the role of Rowan Pope) told TVLine in an interview at the Emmys that Fitz will come to learn that Rowan had planned the fatal poisoning of First Son Jerry III. He further reveals that viewers will see "sparks flying" between Fitz and Rowan in the new season.

Showrunner Shonda Rhimes has said that Season 4 will see a slight time jump of roughly two-and-a-half months since the Season 3 finale.

ABC has also revealed the names of some guest stars, who include Sonya Walger, known as Penny from 'Lost', and Portia de Rossi.

Talking to the Entertainment Weekly, Portia said that her character is a "powerful woman."

In the mean time, TVGuide has disclosed that "regardless of how Olivia comes back into the fold, it will actually be the year of Abby, as we'll finally get to discover more of her backstory."

Explaining Harrison's death to The Hollywood Reporter, Rhimes said, "His absence will be explained definitively. What you think happened to his character happened to his character." According to Rhimes, "all the Gladiators" are impacted by Harrison's absence.

Rhimes went on to say, "It will be very devastating for Abby in a surprising way. You'll see how she's coping with it in a very different way than you would expect."
