The nineties were a much better time for former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf. Unfortunately for Leaf, he's been partying like it's 1999 for about 14 years now.

The former no. 2 pick in the 1998 draft, still considered one of the biggest let downs in NFL history, was kicked out of his drug treatment program for bad
behavior and transferred to Montana State Prison, according to Sports Illustrated.

Appropriately named Great Falls, parole and probation administrator Dawn Handa told the sports publication, Leaf was kicked out after violating policies of the drug treatment program

"The violations included threatening a program staff member." (Sports Illustrated)

The former San Diego Chargers quarterback has publicly apologized but feels somewhat misrepresented.

"I've made some mistakes, and have no excuses. I am using the tools I've learned to move forward rather than backwards, and will be open to talking about the details in the days to come. I am confident that there will be further understanding when the facts are revealed," Leaf told Sports Illustrated.

However he's still optimistic of a redemptive future and feels, "very blessed for all of the support, especially from friends and family." (Sports Illustrated)

Leaf was sentenced to 5 years in jail and 9 months of rehab for breaking into two homes and stealing painkillers, in May.

If Leaf had completed the drug treatment program, he most likely could have avoided jail time. I suppose he'll have plenty of time to listen to his Prince albums in prison.
