Robin Williams' Funeral & Fundraiser Update: Protest Set by Westboro Baptist Church; Group Says Late Comedian is in Hell (VIDEO)

The controversial Westboro Baptist Church recently revealed why they are going to protest Robin Williams' public funeral service.

"Westboro Baptist Church Hopes To Preach In Lawful Proximity To Robin Williams' Funeral - To Warn The Living: Repent Or Likewise Perish," wrote Westboro Baptist Church on their Twitter page.

According to numerous reports, the church is protesting the legendary actor's funeral because of Williams' cross dressing role as Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire in the 1993 'Mrs. Doubtfire' movie, which also starred Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan.

In addition, the aforementioned congregation is not pleased with Williams' portrayal as a gay man named Armand Goldman in the 1996 film titled 'The Birdcage', which also starred Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman, Calista Flockhart, Hank Azaria, and Christine Baranski to name a few.

Williams' colleague Adam Hills recently gave his thoughts regarding the contentious church planning to crash the deceased comedian's upcoming burial ceremony.

"If you really believe in standing up to those threatening the Christian way of life," said Hills on his TV show titled 'The Last Leg' in the UK. "How about putting your money where your mouth is, taking a direct flight to Iraq and picketing the people threatening to behead Christians if they don't convert?"

"I will personally pay for every member of the Westboro Baptist Church to fly to Iraq right now. I'll even fly you first class and pay the carbon offset," Hill stated.

As a result, Westboro issued the following response to Hills' challenge on social media.

"@adamhillscomedy Cough up the tickets, funny man! We got our bags packed! Iraq needs some preaching! cc: @TheLastLeg," wrote the church via Twitter on August 20.

Planting Peace's co-founder Aaron Jackson issued the following statement regarding their fundraiser in honor of the late actor and one of their favorite charities, St. Jude's.

"We felt like launching a fundraiser for a charity Robin loved would be the perfect way to honor him and counteract the message of hate and intolerance that the Westboro Baptist Church continues to convey," said Jackson to the Huffington Post.

"Robin Williams played many different roles in so many people's lives, and giving back to others was at the top of that list. His appeal crossed generational boundaries. I was personally impacted when I heard of his passing. This is a small gesture to honor his legacy and the difference he made to so many," he added.

No official date have been announced regarding the public funeral of the late TV and movie icon, Robin Williams.
