'Risen' Movie Review Roundup, Trailer: Kevin Reynold's Film Sheds Light On Jesus Christ’s Resurrection

In line with its release in theaters, Kevin Reynold's action drama film "Risen" is set to give clarity on the contents of the New Testament.

According to New York Post, "Risen" aims to boost the New Testament through the application of a "Naugahyde" upholstery on it. As per the publication, Clavius was seen initially as an antagonist, as he pursues punishment to the believers of Jesus Christ's resurrection. Later on, the character discovers Jesus Christ with his friends, and later becomes his follower.

"Risen" follows the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection in the perspective of a non-believer. Clavius, who is an influential Roman Military Tribune, along with his aide Lucius, are set to give light on what had happened to Jesus Christ in the weeks after his death on the cross, which disproves the talks of a resurrected Messiah and halt an uprising in Jerusalem.

The film stars Mish Boyko, Stephen Hagan, Andy Gathergood, Stewart Scudamore, Richard Atwill, Antonio Gil, Luis Callejo, Peter Firth, Maria Botto, Tom Felton as Lucius, Cliff Curtis as Yeshua, and Joseph Fiennes as Clavius.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, "Risen" blends thrilling and inspirational elements, with Fiennes' "restrained" performance and Curtis take on Yeshua. According to the publication, the film also managed to inspire the audience with a "prosaic" approach of the low-budget and low-key miracle depiction.

With Reynold's at the helm of the film, "The Translator" writer Paul Aiello is on board to pen the film screenplay.

Reynold's "Risen" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on Feb. 19.
