'Resident Evil 7' Release Date News: New Save System Included, Prologue Only Available To PlayStation VR

In line with Capcom's "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard," the game is not divided into chapters and it is set to add a new save system. Also, the game's prologue is set to be exclusive to PlayStation VR.

"Biohazard" producer Masochika Kawata explained the said changes to the forthcoming horror-themed video game. In his interview with Yugatech, as cited by PlayStation Universe, Kawata said that the game was a linear experience, which means that there was no single way through; instead, it took place in a linear timeline, so it was not divided into chapters.

In terms of the auto-save system, the Kawata explained that players could restart not as far back when their character died. He added that some rooms acted as manual save points and that the saving system also varied, depending on the difficulty situation that player chose.

"If you choose a harder difficulty, the saving system won't be so nice to you." Kawata said.

The aforementioned game feature serves as a nice touch in horror games, as per iDigital Times. According to the publication, getting through a hard stage with jump scares, only to lose one's progress may be the worst experience for players.

In other news, "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard's" prologue is set to be exclusive to PlayStation VR, according to Capcom, as cited by Game N Guide. As per the publication, such exclusivity is set to only last for a year and the game prologue shall be available to other VR techs once it ends. As per Game Spot, the lack of decent virtual reality-based games in the present market makes "Biohazard" a sufficient reason.

Developed by Capcom, "Resident Evil: Biohazard" is set to be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows on Jan. 24, 2017.
