Relient K New Album & Tour 2013: Matt Thiessen Announces Release Date

Life has not been easy for Relient K fans lately.

The Christin Pop/Rock band has had their new album Collapsible Lung finished and was supposed to release next week, but the release date keeps getting pushed back.

Also, 3 members of the band, John Warne (bass guitar), Jon Schneck (guitar) and Ethan Luck (drums), released a statement on their Facebook page that they will not being touring with them on their upcoming U.S. Tour.

Both John's have played at all Relient K shows for the past 8 years and Ethan Luck has played every show since 2008.

The good news is that the band has not broken up and also that the band will still be touring, even if it is with different musicians.

Finally though, Relient K fans got some very exciting news at their show last night when Matt Thiessen (singer) said that even though Collapsible Lung was supposed to be released "next week," it's now scheduled for a July release date.  The specific date is not known, but at least it will be in July.

With not many details released, no one is for sure if this is a permanent split from the band members or just a temporary move.

An interesting line up change is Zac Farro, ex-Paramore drummer, playing drums for Relint K on their recent Australia tour dates.  However, Relient K have just released news though that Dan Gartley (Sanctus Real) and Tom Breyfogle (Secondhand Serenade) will be performing on bass and drums respectively.  So Zac Farro was only a temporary fill in and will not be on the U.S. Tour dates.

Ethan Luck, formerly of The Dingees and Supertones, has been Relient K's touring drummer since 2008.  Luck is on tour doing tech work with Cold War Kids right now.  No official word on if Luck is permanently done playing with Relient K.
