'Reign' Season 4: Series Begins Filming, Expected To Premiere In Early 2017

Fans who have been patiently waiting for updates on "Reign" season 4 may now breathe a sigh of relief following the announcement of its writers that the show has officially started filming.

Despite lack of updates from The CW Network regarding the premiere date of the series, fans can now be certain that the series is well on its way.

A recent report revealed that "Reign" season 4 has been deliberately delayed and will launch in 2017 instead of this year. Viewers of the series speculate that the series will premiere in fall since the first three seasons of the show premiered around the same time.

Reports say that the reason why the series will not premiere this fall is that the network is giving higher priority to shows that have higher ratings than "Reign." These series include "iZombie," "The 100," and "The Originals."

There are speculations that since the aforementioned shows have the same target audience as "Reign," the CW has decided to move the series out of the way and into a more befitting release window, where it will not have an impact on the viewership of the other shows. If these speculations are true, then it is possible that the show will premiere by early 2017, around March or April.

Fans of the series believe that "Reign" season 4 will not premiere in May next year since that means it will have to compete with the likes of HBO's "Game of Thrones."

"Reign" has seen a decrease in its viewership ratings since its first season, from 1.57 million viewers in season 1 to 0.983 million in season 3.
