PS4 vs Xbox One Sales: PlayStation 4 Rocks Console Sales; PS4, Xbox One Projected To Be 150 M Sales In 2019?

In a battle between the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, it looks like Sony's console dominated the January sales. In line with this, the combined sales of the two gaming consoles are projected to be around 150 million in 2019.

According to Game Spot, Sony's PlayStation 4 leads the hardware and software wars. As per the publication, the console had the highest sales in the United States in January and led the software sales, as indicated in a NPD group report.

The report revealed that the overall industry hardware sales declined by 15 percent to $157 million. NPD analyst Liam Callahan revealed that the drop in sales could be linked to price cuts implemented during the "eight-generation" systems.

While the tech company did not reveal the specific figures on its console of title sales, it has been revealed that the console managed to sell about 36 million consoles globally.

In a statement, Sony's representative told the publication that the PlayStation 4 had also seen impressive "year-over-year" growth in both the hardware and software sales. The company representative added that the company appreciated the support and continue to deliver on its promise to bring the best entertainment experiences to gamers.

With the PlayStation 4 topping the consoles' sales for January, it has also been revealed that the combined sales of Sony's console and the Xbox One is predicted to touch 150 million in 2019.

In his statement at the Mad Catz earnings call, Chief Financial Officer David McKeon said that the installed base of the new console that was around 60 million represented just a little more than a third of the projected install base of more than 150 million units by the end of 2018.

As per PlayStation Lifestyle, the estimated 60 million is higher by five million than what EA had predicted in the earnings at the end of January.
