‘Prometheus 2’ Spoilers, Rumors: Guy Pearce Returns For Flashbacks; Ridley Scott Causes Delay

Guy Pearce has agreed to return to the cast of Prometheus 2 and has already begun shooting flashback scenes, however, Director Ridley Scott is said to have personally delayed the production team's efforts.

"I'd love to go back and play that character again. To work for Ridley again, you know, he's great -- really wonderful to work for. So yeah, I'm very curious to see what he will do next with it," Guy Pearce revealed to IGN last month.

Reports claim that due to Guy Pearce's excellent performance in the first film, production has taken him on again for the sequel.

"However, the screen time that Pearce receives with the next film is something that is unknown as of right now. It all depends on how Ridley Scott decides execute the sequel. I've read places that it may only be in flashback sequences that Pearce will appear, but there are others that hope he makes an actual appearance in real-time for the movie," said Collin Jones from Movie Pilot.

Jones also said that there is no indication that the sequel will feature the story of the "Engineers."

Meanwhile, it is reported that the film's delay should be attributed to Director Ridley Scott who has been away for a months shooting Matt Damon's The Martian.

But, Scott said he his focused on the film did not fade out. He also encouraged fans to be excited about the sequel "because not only is this I am assured, not nostalgia for nostalgia reasons, but a whole new spin on that old chestnut."

Prometheus 2 has yet to be pegged with any indication of a release date.
