Prometheus 2 Movie Release Date Spoilers: Screenwriter Drops, Film Coming March 2016?

The box office success, 'Prometheus', has grossed $402 million worldwide since June 8, 2012, and fans are looking for news about a sequel. Apparently, 'Prometheus 2' is already in the works and has been rumored with a March 4, 2016 release date.

The original 'Prometheus' was directed by Ridley Scott, and had a budget of around $120-130 million. It's not yet known whether the sequel will have the same funding, or whether it's Scott's current project.

In terms of the casting for the soon-to-be blockbuster, Michael Fassbender as David and Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw are rumored to be reprising their roles. Beyond that, talk of Danny Webb joining the cast has been buzzing around, specifically pegging him with the role of Morse.

On that note, it seems as though the writing team for the sequel will be different this time around.

Screenwriter Damon Lindelof who was behind the pen for the script of 'Prometheus' will not be taking on the sequel. Due to other endeavors, Lindelof has stepped away from the script, resulting in a delay in the 'Prometheus 2' release date.

Lindelof has dedicated his time toward another sci-fi flick instead, 'Tommorrowland'.

However, Scott has already chosen a replacement, someone will be able to fill the gaping void that Lindelof left behind. Jake Paglen is set to take on the script for 'Prometheus 2'.

Rumors about the movie's true title have also been floating about community forums, and apparently 'Prometheus 2: Paradise' has the strongest backing.

Spoilers go on to reveal that fans can expect multiple versions of the android David, and that this film will bring with it a horror movie tone. It's said that 'Prometheus 2' will have a similar feel to the original blockbuster film 'Alien'.
