Alex Kendrick

Director and actor Alex Kendrick shared a serious message with social media concerning Christians and prayer this week in relation to the release of his upcoming film 'War Room'.

The faith-based Family Drama 'War Room', showcases the power fighting your toughest battles in prayer. The highly anticipated fifth film from Alex and his brother Stephen Kendrick (Fireproof, Courageous, Facing the Giants, Flywheel) will debut in theaters nationwide on August 28, 2015. It is a family-friendly movie that explores the transformational role prayer plays in the lives of the Jordan family.

"This whole war room parallel follows what the military does as they prepare in their war to go into battle with how we are called to spend time privately with the Lord," he stated in the video message, "Matthew 6:6 talks about in the inner room or our closet, we seek God first, before going into the war."

"Often times Christians, because there is so much to lose they don't really get on the front lines of battle," he boldly continued, "If there was ever a time in our culture we needed Christians to stand up for what they believe to really go to the Lord for guidance, it's now!"

As well as urging Christians to pray always, 'War Room' and LifeWay teamed up to encourage everyone to take time specifically on Friday, May 22 to pray for the new movie from the Kendrick Brothers, asking God to use this film to impact the culture and bring America to Him.

"Our prayer is that God will use 'War Room' to call His people back to their knees; to restore homes, families, and churches; and for the world to witness an unprecedented spirit of unity within the body of Christ," the site says.

The film features New York Times best-selling author and Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer in her film debut. The cast also includes director Alex (Moms' Night Out, Courageous), T.C. Stallings (Courageous), and comedian Michael Jr. 'War Room' introduces film newcomers Karen Abercrombie as Miss Clara and Alena Pitts as Danielle, and features a cameo by renowned speaker Beth Moore in her first acting role.

The feature was directed by Alex and produced by Stephen Kendrick and Gary Wheeler. Written by the Kendrick brothers, and was filmed in and around Charlotte, N.C.

Sony Pictures Entertainment's TriStar Pictures, (distributor of Soul Surfer, Courageous and last summer's faith-based sensation Heaven is For Real) will release the film, which is rated PG, perfectly positioning it to entertain families of all ages.
