'Penny Dreadful' Season 4 Cancellation News: Show Creator Stands By Decision To End Series?

After "Penny Dreadful" season 3 ended in peace, it seems that the next installment of the series will never be in the cards.

The final episode of "Penny Dreadful" season 3 saw the death of its main character, Vanessa Ives. According to series creator John Logan, the death of Ives in the season 3 finale meant the end of her struggle, and that was what the series was all about.

As of now, there are still no plans of renewing the series for another season. Before season 3 ended, Logan confirmed that the two-part finale of the previous season would be the last, primarily because it would be hard to imagine the show without Ives.

Following his confirmation, Logan was slammed by the fans of the series, reproaching him for his "lack of respect" for the staff and crew behind the series who have been there for him and the show since it first aired three years ago. However, Logan noted that the ending that was most befitting for Vanessa's story was her return to her faith after grappling with the demons in her, and that was what exactly happened in the season 3 finale.

The series creator added that Eva Green had always known that he had no intention of carrying the story forward after her death in the series.

Despite Logan's attempt to clarify the cancellation issue, several fans are still clamoring for a fourth season. They perceive that the story seems unfinished because of its many loose ends, with many new characters introduced but never utilized in season 3.
