Pearl City Worship’s ‘We Won’t Be Silent’: Tales Of Praise From The Orient

Pearl City Worship

Pearl City Worship is expanding its voice outside of the geographic confines of India, where the Christian band consistently tops of the charts despite its distinct sound, with its latest release, "We Won't Be Silent."

In a country dominated by Hinduism and Islam, Pearl City Worship managed to find its voice.

The band's frontman Allen Ganta recalled that when he was growing up, India's Christian churches have always imported music from the west. And while the theme was universal, there's none of the local flavor that resonates with the people.

"Our music needs to be authentic. It's the prayers of this nation that will save this nation," he said in an interview with Mark Geil.

The struggle to find a voice can be gleaned from one of the songs in "We Won't Be Silent," titled "The Answer."

"It so belongs to India. They have a hundred million gods here," he explained. "They don't mind adding Jesus into this pantheon of gods, but where is the real truth? The song came from that - after looking for answers everywhere, and praying to all these gods, it's only after you find Jesus that you'll have the answer for everything."

For the album, Pearl City Worship worked with Nashville producer Ian Eskelin (Sidewalk Prophets, Hawk Nelson) who serendipitously walked into their church.

The music producer explained, "What I saw that day was a vibrant, exciting church where the chaos of the world was outside - poverty, people living in straw huts, cows walking down the street - and you walk through these doors and you see a thousand people praising God with guitars and vocals and smiles on their faces."
