Patrick Dempsey Casting News: 'Grey's Anatomy' Actor Comes Back to TV this Fall?

Fans of Grey's Anatomy are still trying to come to terms with the death of Patrick Dempsey's character, Derrick Shepherd, on the show.

However, thankfully, fans of Dempsey, also known as McDreamy, will not have to go too much longer without seeing him back on the small screen.

Dempsey is searching for his next role on television, so he could end up back on the television screen even sooner than they thought.

In fact, the actor could be back on television as early as this fall.

He is in negotiations currently to find a role that is a good fit for him, and sources say that it is not too late for him to join a show set to premiere in the fall.

According to a statement made by a network executive to Entertainment Weekly, "not too late at all. I can definitely see him ending up on something in the fall."

While this may all seem a little bit rushed, what Dempsey is doing is not uncommon.

Jumping from Grey's into another series, is not unlike what many people in the television industry do.

"It is very normal for an actor who has been on a show for a long time to take meetings, to get reacquainted with other studios and network execs," said a studio executive. "It's just what you do. You never know what dream project is gonna fall in your lap."

Fans certainly hope that McDreamy finds his dream project sooner, rather than later, after many were unable to swallow his shocking death on the popular television drama.
