Oscar Pistorius Murder Trial Case Update: Verdict Date Due on September 11

Paralympics medalist Oscar Pistorius is expected to receive his verdict on September 11, about the charges of murder against him. Pistorius is currently on trial for the 2013 Valentine's Day shooting of Reeva Steenkamp, which has drawn the attention of millions around the world.

Throughout the trial, the 27-year-old South African athlete has been consistent in his testimony, saying that he did not intentionally shoot his late girlfriend.

At one point during the trial, Pistorius apologized to the Steenkamp family during the opening of his defense, to which Reeva's mother, June Steenkamp, later on responded that she had already forgiven Pistorius, but believed that her daughter's soul will not rest until proper justice is served.

The grueling trial proceedings had cost Pistorius a fortune, forcing him to sell his $485,000 home where the Paralympic is said to have shot the 30-year-old model.

During the final day of the trial's closing arguments, Pistorius' defense undertook the grueling task of reliving the night of the murder, using phone records and testimonies from witnesses to establish concrete evidence of the Paralympic's version of events.

Legal analysts later on commented that Pistorius' defense attorney Barry Roux had done an impressive job in the way he had completed his closing arguments for the athlete's defense, but the final say would still come down from Judge Thokozile Masipa, who, as mentioned earlier, is scheduled to hand down her verdict during the trial on September 11th.
