‘Orphan Black’ Season 3 Release Date, Rumors: Starts Filming In Toronto: Tatiana Maslany & Ari Millen Talk Mutli-Role Reprisals

The critically acclaimed sci-fi television series from BBC, 'Orphan Black', has reportedly started filming in Toronto for its upcoming third season.

Earlier this year, the series, which stars Tatiana Maslany in multiple roles, has been greenlighted to come back for its 10-episode third season in Spring 2015.

The show's renewal did not come as a surprise to many viewers, since it has drawn several awards after it premiered in March 2013. The lead actress, Maslany, has gained honors from the Critics' Choice TV Awards, Peabody Award, and a nomination for Golden Globe Awards.

The actress, who was praised for playing different roles in the series, has expressed her gratitude for having been cast as a female lead in the said show.

Maslany spoke with Channel 24 about how she feels about her role, "I'm so happy that this role exists. I hope that women playing lead roles that are complex, difficult and weird will just become normal. I think it's happening more often.

She went on to say, "Robin Wright in 'House of Cards' plays a fascinating character and Laura Dern (in 'Enlightened') played an incredible leading woman who wasn't necessarily the strongest woman, she had so many flaws and weaknesses but I totally know that woman and believe her and I root for her. There's a lot of for room for it to be normal for women to be leads in shows. It's about time," Maslany told Channel 24.

However, in the upcoming season, Maslany will not be the only one playing numerous roles in 'Orphan Black'.

Ari Millen, whose character, Mark, was revealed to be a clone in season 2, will be coming back for the third season in several roles.

"It's just very exciting. Getting on the show to begin with is a dream come true, and then to have that revelation at the end of the season ... you know, we'll see," Millen told TVLine when asked whether he is nervous about playing multiple roles.

Meanwhile, the creators of the show revealed that the project that resulted in Mark's cloning has an impact on the cloning of Sarah Manning.

"We're telling the mystery puzzle of Sarah Manning and her clone sisters and Project Castor is another part of the mystery," John Fawcett, the show's executive producer and co-creator, explained.

'Orphan Black' will return in the spring of 2015 on BBC.
