‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 2 Release Date, Cast News: New Netflix Episodes to Detail Criminal Pasts

Orange is the New Black will be back on Netflix soon with a whole new set of 13 episodes, big revelations, and additional characters for Season 2 of the hit prison show.

Season 2 reportedly will tackle the all-female inmates' criminal histories, so fans can expect that Morello, Sister Ingalis, Taystee, Poussey, Ms. Rosa, and Vee to all share the spotlight alongside lead character Piper Chapman this time around.

"The mysterious Vee will be introduced as the new inmate of Litchfield Prison, while Alex Vause will be exiting the prison. Laura Prepon, who plays Vause, will appear in only four episodes in Season 2 of Orange is the New Black," creator Jenji Kohan detailed at a PaleyFest interview.

Beth Fowler told The Hollywood Reporter that her character, Sister Ingall, is an 83-year-old nun, and was convicted and sent to prison after breaking into a nuclear power plant. Fowler, 73, emphasized that there are more revelations to the character that fans should watch out for.

Piper Chaman, played by Taylor Schilling, has childhood flashbacks where she engaged in bad behavior despite efforts to be good.

"I think that Piper is in a different situation than she's ever been in -- the circumstances of her life are more extreme than they've ever been. So she's finding new ways to cope, and that's bringing out new sides of her," Schilling said describing her character in Season 2.

There are also rumors that comedian and LGBT rights activist Rosie O'Donnell will join the cast, but the actress kept mom about the possibility.

She expressed her enthusiasm in working with the "biggest ensemble of female actors in TV", but it is still unclear whether she will have a part in Season 2.

Orange is the New Black Season 2 premieres on June 6 on Netflix.
