‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 4 Premiere Date, Plot Spoilers: Elsa to Be Cast as a Misunderstood Villain [VIDEO]

Once Upon A Time Season 3 has just ended and set up some major cliffhangers to be tackled on the next season.

Marian's resurface from what was believed to be her death shocked her former husband, Robin Hood, who is now in a relationship with Regina.

ABC's flagship fairy tale TV show also surprised viewers with the appearance of Frozen's Elsa, who is believed to be a major part of Season 4.

Executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the character who appeared on the finale of Season 3 was indeed Elsa of Frozen. The show had agreed terms with Disney to reinvent the animated character for the show:

"[What] we loved so much about the character of Elsa was that she was considered a villain but she never really was. She was misunderstood. That, on our show, speaks to us so strongly, that it was a toy we had to play with," Kitsis told The Hollywood Reporter when asked how the character ended in Storybrooke. It is anticipated that Elsa will appear very early on Season 4.

Another big revelation that Once Upon A Time fans need to watch out for the next season is Robin Hood's relationship with Regina after he learned that his former wife, Marian, is not really dead. Horowitz also told TV Line that there will be more Frozen characters including the rumored Olaf The Snowman.

Belle and Rumplestiltskin's marriage would be on the rocks as he tries to cover up Zelena's death.

"It's probably not going to be easy for him. Those were genuine vows and he loves Belle, but he's got his own weaknesses that he has to fight," Horowitz said.

Once Upon A Time Season 4 is expected to premiere sometime in September, and should maintain its time slot of 8 p.m. on ABC. Watch the Season 3 Finale preview below in case you missed it.
