'Oculus Rift' Release Date, Specs: Rift Ready PC Bundles Available For Pre-Order, Price Ranges From $900 To $2000

Oculus VR has revealed its Rift-Ready PC bundles, which can be pre-ordered in the middle of February this year.

According to Tech Times, the Oculus Ready tech rigs are set with the virtual reality headset as a bundle. The publication also revealed that the PC units came from Alienware, Asus, and Dell, which have been all tested with the Oculus Rift.

The bundles were initially priced at $1,499 for a limited time, before the price goes up to more than $3,000. However, many wanted the virtual reality headset at $599, so Oculus VR came up with a bundle to provide its consumers a smooth and satisfactory VR experience.

The Asus G11CD is the most affordable, among the models. Powered by the Skylake Intel i5-6400, the unit has an Nvidia 970, 8GB of RAM, and 1TB hard disk, for a bundle price of $949

Thee Asus ROG G20CB Model 1 has the same generation six processor and GPU as the first unit. It also has the Intel i5-6400 and Nvidia 970. It comes with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. On the other hand, the Model 2 advances its predecessor with its Intel i7-6700, Nvidia 980, 16GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, and 1TB hard disk. Model 1 is at $1,349 while Model 2 is at $1,599.

Next is Alienware Area 51, which is the most expensive model, among others. It comees with an Intel i7-5820K, Nvidia 980, 16GB of RAM, 128 GB SSD, and 2TB hard disk, allowing more storage area than the previous ones. It costs $2,549. The Alienware X51 R3 Model 1 features an Intel-6400, Nvidia 970, 8GB of RAM, and 1TB hard disk, whilt the Model 2 differs with its Nvidia 980, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD. The Model 1 costs $1,499 while Model 2 costs $999.

Meanwhile, the Dell XPS 8900 SE has similar features with Asus G11CD. The only difference is the brand and the cheaper bundle price, which is $999.

As per the Oculus website, the recommended system requirements include the NVIDIA GTX 970/ AMD 290 equivalent or greater, Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater, and more than 8GB of RAM.

Pre-orders for the Oculus Ready bundles start on Feb. 16. The Oculus Rift will be launched on Mar. 28 while the bundles will be shipped on Apr. 23.
