The Oakland A's will battle the Kansas City Royals tonight at Ewing M. Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The game will start at 8:05 pm ET and can be watched online through live stream via the link provided below (free for subscribers).

Athletics ace Jon Lester (16-11, 2.46 ERA) is looking to lead Oakland (88-74) to a victory in the wildcard game of the 2014 American League Division Series Round.

"I've always been that way, even as a kid playing backyard basketball and football and home run derby and all that stuff," said Lester to reporters in reference to his competitive nature as an athlete, "A lot of neighborhood kids didn't like playing with me because I always wanted to win, always had to go one more out or one more game, whatever it was. I've always liked winning. It's a lot better than losing."

Lester's Oakland manager also gave his thoughts on the potential pitching duel between both squad's in their upcoming pitching matchup.

"That's what we got him [Lester] for," said A's skipper Bob Melvin to reporters in reference to the newly aquired former Red Sox hurler at this year's MLB Trading Deadline on July 31, "That's why the rotation was set up the way it was. That's why you have a guy like that. When he takes the mound, the team's going to feel awfully good about their chances."

Meanwhile, The Royals (89-73) will counter Oakland's offense with their dominant starting pitcher James Shields (14-8, 3.21 ERA) when he takes the pitching mound on Tuesday.

"I wear that nickname [Big Game James] with pride," said Shields to reporters in reference to the pitcher elevating his performance in high pressure situations.
