Nigeria Kidnapping Latest News: Christian Girl's Pastor Dad Killed by Boko Haram for Not Renouncing His Faith

Deborah Peters, a Christian teen from Nigeria, attended an event at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC, where she revealed her heartbreaking story about her brother and Pastor father being killed because of his faith in Jesus Christ by the same Boko Haram terrorist group that recently abducted at least 276 girls from a boarding school.

Peters described what happened to her family when she and her brother heard gunshots outside their home that tragic day.

"...My brother called my dad and told him not to come home because they are fighting and my father told him to just forget about it," said Peters, according to The Christian Post.

Peters then revealed that Boko Haram had previously burned down her dad's church back in 2010.

"He told him that he would rather die than to go to hellfire," said Peters describing her late father's last moments when he was shot three times in the chest by members of the Muslim extremist group.

In addition, Boko Haram also killed her brother because they made the assumption that the boy would have become a minister if they allowed him to live.

Peters was among the guest speakers who talked about Boko Haram's reign of terror inside the African nation at an event at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC titled "A Survivor's Account of Boko Haram's Religious Cleansing in Nigeria."

Emmanuel Ogebe, a human rights attorney, also attended the event on May 13. He is also a specialist on U.S. and Nigerian affairs.

"Persecution in Northern Nigeria has been the 'new normal' for decades," said Ogebe to The Christian Post. "What is happening now is this is persecution on steroids. Northern Nigerian Christians are used to being killed a couple of times a year ... but for terrorists to come out and abduct 300 kids, this is where Northern Nigerian Christians are saying 'okay, we didn't sign up for this.'"
