Nexus 6 Release Date Rumors: Google to Launch Device with Android L in October 2014

With the iPhone 6 already out, excitement is starting to build up for the possible release dates of other upcoming devices, including Google Nexus 6. According to latest reports, the Nexus 6 is expected to arrive soon - probably before the year ends.

In fact, two years have elapsed since Google released the Nexus 5 and considering the Mountain View-based company's practice, the device should have been announced already. However, many reports suggest that Google may release the device sometime in October.

Incidentally, the Google Nexus line has always released its new model at the end of the year. However, the first one was an exception as it was released during January. While the third and fourth Nexus were released in November, the Nexus 5 was released last October. Therefore, techies are hoping that the Nexus 6 will come out in October.

It is rumored that the Nexus 6 will have either a 5.5-inch or a 5.2-inch QHD display along with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. In fact, the display size as well as the resolution is an upgrade from earlier Nexus models and is being viewed as Google's response to the LG G3's QHD display.

The Nexus 6 is expected to be upgraded to the 64-bit chipset and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core 2.7GHz Krait 450 processor alongside an Adreno 420 GPU. The smartphone will only be available with 32GB and 3GB of RAM.

Expectations are high that the Nexus 6 will run on Google's upcoming mobile operating system, the Android 5.0 (more commonly knows as the Android L). As the release of the Android L is expected to be sometime this Fall, it may be assumed that the Nexus 6 might follow shortly after.

As everyone is aware, the Nexus line is comparatively low priced and comes with impressive specs. Hence, it is expected that the Nexus 6 will not be an exception to that pattern. According to rumors, the smartphone will be priced around $550.
