New Movie, Grace Unplugged, Highlights the Struggle for Keeping Faith   This intriquing story begins with Johnny Trey, played by James Denton, recording a top five single on the Billboard charts. His big hit, "Misunderstood", would be the only top recording hit Johnny would make. The fall from stardom for Johnny would come fast and hard. Not only did his career in recording crash, but his life also!  When Johnny is at the end of his rope, feeling hopeless and despairing of life, he finds Jesus Christ and his life dramatically changes. A new purpose, joy, and meaning comes to flood the emptiness that has characterized Johnny's life. In order to find a new start, Johnny and his family move to Birmingham, Alabama where Johnny takes over as the praise and worship director at the Homewood Community Church. Helping him with the music ministry of the church, and serving alongside him, is his 18-yr. old daughter, Grace Trey, played by A. J. Michalka. Grace is a beautiful, gifted, and extraordinary singer with great musical talent and a powerful personality. Even though she is a great asset to her father's ministry, she feels that she has the potential to be "a rising star", and wants to record music that contains lyrics other than those about God. Problem is -- no one outside the walls of the church knows of the extraordinary talent of this young singer. With the help of Johnny's ruthless and unscrupulous former recording manager, Frank Mosten, played by Kevin Pollak, Grace lands a recording deal and heads off to Los Angeles. Mosten sees unbelievable music talent and potential in Grace's singing abilities, and realizes that he has "a star in the making" who can bring in big bucks! Here is where the real crisis in the story line begins--will Grace walk away from her Christian faith in order to achieve stardom and popularity? Grace is only 18 yrs. old and has never been exposed to the harsh realities of the recording industry. For the first time in her life, Grace's faith is put to the test! Will Grace forsake her faith, or rediscover a deeper meaning to it? A significant turn for Grace happens when her life crosses the path of an intern at the recording company who is also a believer in Jesus. Through conversations with this intern, Grace is challenged to evaluate the choices she is making in life, and not to abandon her Christian faith and devotion to Jesus. Grace Unplugged is a powerful movie that speaks to the heart about the importance of the choices we make in life, and how God is with us every step of the way to help us rediscover His grace, mercy, and purpose for our lives!
