Netflix New Releases August 2014: A Good Month for 'The Killing' fans, Lots of New Movies for Streaming

Netflix has become increasingly popular, and many households have actually chosen to subscribe to that it over traditional cable. The digital streaming service has recently announced the names of additional movies and TV shows that will be available to subscribers in August.

In fact, August will prove to be good month for "The Killing" fans. As even AMC will not be airing the new season, all six episodes of 'The Killing' will be premiered on Netflix, August 1.

Below is the list of new titles announced by Netflix for August (films listed in order of their release).

'Cleopatra' (1963): Starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and Rex Harrison. Movie shows the triumphs and tragedy of the Egyptian queen, Cleopatra.

'Brian's Song' (1971): Starring James Caan, Billy Dee Williams, and Jack Warden. Based on the real-life relationship between teammates Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers and the bond established when Piccolo discovers that he is dying.

'Chinatown' (1974): Starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, and John Huston. A private detective hired to expose an adulterer finds himself caught up in a web of deceit, corruption and murder.

'Blink' (1994): Starring Madeleine Stowe, Aidan Quinn, James Remar. After an operation restores her sight, a woman has trouble remembering what she's seen. When she sees her neighbor murdered, the woman is unsure if she actually witnessed the crime or if her mind is playing tricks on her.

'Blown Away' (1994): Starring Jeff Bridges, Tommy Lee Jones, and Suzy Amis. An Irish bomber escapes from prison and targets a member of the Boston bomb squad.

'Best Laid Plans' (1999): Starring Alessandro Nivola, Reese Witherspoon, and Josh Brolin. A seemingly simple plan to steal money goes increasingly awry.

'Boys And Girls' (2000): Starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Claire Forlani, and Jason Biggs. A friendship is put to the ultimate test when two best friends wind up in bed together.

'Bounce' (2000): Starring Ben Affleck, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Natasha Henstridge. A man switches plane tickets with another man who dies in that plane in a crash. The man falls in love with the deceased one's wife.

'Chocolat' (2000): Starring Johnny Depp, Juliette Binoche, and Judi Dench. A woman and her daughter open a chocolate shop in a small French village that shakes up the rigid morality of the community.

'Down To You' (2000): Starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Julia Stiles, and Selma Blair. A young man wins and loses the first serious love of his life.

'Buffalo Soldiers' (2001): Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Anna Paquin, and Ed Harris. A criminal subculture operates among U.S. soldiers stationed in West Germany just before the fall of the Berlin wall.

'Blue Car' (2002): Starring David Strathairn, Agnes Bruckner, and Margaret Colin. A troubled young woman is encouraged by a teacher to enter a poetry contest.

'Cypher' (2002): Starring Jeremy Northam, Lucy Liu, and Nigel Bennett. An unsuspecting, disenchanted man finds himself working as a spy in the dangerous, high-stakes world of corporate espionage. Quickly getting way over-his-head, he teams up with a mysterious femme fatale.

'Elizabethtown' (2005): Starring Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, and Susan Sarandon. During an outrageous memorial for a Southern patriarch, an unexpected romance blooms between a young woman and man.

'Becoming Jane' (2007): Starring Anne Hathaway, James McAvoy, and Julie Walters. The movie is a biographical portrait of a pre-fame Jane Austen and her romance with a young Irishman.

'Caveman' (2013): Starring Dennis Quaid, Ringo Starr, and Shelley Long. A caveman seeks revenge on a much larger competitor for the hand of a beautiful cavewoman.

'The Killing' Season 4 (2014): Starring Mireille Enos, Joel Kinnaman, and Joan Allen. Detectives Linden and Holder return for an all-new season with a fresh mystery to solve, as Linden deals with the fallout from her actions at the end of Season 3.
