Nashville-based singer-songwriter Erskin Anavitarte has just released his latest single "Grace Made The First Move." The song, produced by Stephen Leiweke and co-written by Erskin and Melanie Watson, is a cut from Erskin's upcoming full-length album Love Moves, and is a deeply personal pop anthem where Anavitarte-backed by a gospel choir-traces his surrender to Christ as a teenager.
Explaining the story behind the song, Anavitarte says, "'Grace Made The First Move' is about a key moment in my story of salvation. I wanted to write a song that both focuses listeners and reminds them of the love of God."
"The chorus encourages us to understand that His love came and rescued us from our sin," Anavitarte explains. "The cultural link between the new and old is personified in the bridge, with lyrics from the hymn 'Grace Greater Than Our Sin.' I hope the song will lead many people back to the wonder of-and response to-God's grace."
In a deeply personal interview with 100 Huntley Street on Canada's Crossroads TV in 2015, Anavitarte said that he is not afraid of being labeled a Christian artist, but rather considers it a great compliment and an encouragement to continue to minister.
A Texas-born high school basketball standout, Anavitarte received an athletic scholarship to East Tennessee State University and earned an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
He currently resides in Nashville with his wife Kelli and their two children, both of whom they chose to adopt. Their heart for orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children has led Anavitarte to become an advocate for the non-profit organization Holt International.
