'Narcos' Season 2 Release Date News: Series Delayed Because of Showrunner's Resignation

There might be a slight delay in the release of the second season of "Narcos." It was reported that the previous showrunner would be backing out of the series.

In a report from Deadline, it was said that Adam Fierro has decided to quit the show because he said that he already accomplished what was tasked of him when he first took on the role of showrunner.

The 35-year-old Fierro took the job shortly after Chris Brancato left in April for another project offered to him by ABC Studios. Fierro was able to finish about half of the production part of season 2. Jose Padilha, who was supposed to retire from the show after working as a director and executive producer, was retained and now, he, along with fellow executive producer Eric Newman, will now be taking over the show with the help of writers, Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro.

"Narcos" is about the story of one of the most powerful drug lords in the 90s, Pablo Escobar. The show features his ways in handling dealers and as well as the authorities. Wagner Moura recently got a Golden Globe nomination while the show itself got a nomination for best drama series.

The series was supposed to be released on August 2, 2016 but because of the change of people behind the scenes, we might encounter a bit of a delay.

The show was first released on August 28, 2015. It got a high rating from Rotten Tomatoes with 78 percent while getting an even higher score of 9/10 from the International Movie Database.
